According to EPA: “This product is currently classified as a ‘Group D’ (inadequate evidence) carcinogen. Negative results were observed in a mouse carcinogenicity study, but in a rat chronic toxicity/carcinogenicity study, increases in the incidence of thyroid C-cell adenomas were observed in female rats at doses of 300 and 900 mg/kg/day.
